What’s a cookie?

The term “cookies” refers to “all the tracers deposited and/or read, for example, when consulting a website, reading an e-mail, installing or using a software or mobile application”, regardless of the terminal used. It is therefore information deposited (sometimes in a simple text file) on the hard disk of the user’s receiving terminal by the server of the site or application. It may contain several data such as the name of the server that deposited it, an identifier in the form of a unique number, an expiry date. A server accesses it to read and record this information.

The roles of cookies

Cookies play several roles. They facilitate your navigation, store your preferences, make the interaction between you and the website faster and easier. They can also enable websites to target users through advertising or marketing campaigns based, for example, on where they live or their buying or surfing habits. Some cookies are linked to the site you are viewing, others depend on external sites that manage content on the page you are viewing (third-party cookies). For example, a website may use the services of a statistics company that will use its own cookies to count visitors.

How do cookies work on the AGROVE website?

In accordance with the recommendations of the CNIL, AGROVE has set up a cookie acceptance window that appears when you enter one of its pages. This window informs you of the purpose of the cookies, the possibility of opposing them and the fact that by clicking on “Ok, accept all”, you accept the deposit of cookies from AGROVE and third parties on your terminal.
The duration of this consent is a maximum of twelve months. It appears the first time you connect to the site, once a year when your consent expires, each time a new purpose is added to those initially intended or when you erase your computer’s cache memory.
